Live from the exhibit floor at FDIC, and tucked away in a corner where some believe Amelia Earhart was last seen, Rhett Fleitz and John Mitchell have brought their show to a live audience.
Yesterday they had Billy Goldfeder and Ray Gayk discussing the transition from firefighter to officer. Prior to that listeners, and viewers, heard from Fred Simmon of First Responder Liability about the legal ramifications of firefighters taking photos at work.
Today, Friday, they talk with Chris Naum and three of my bosses.
Sometimes, if you’re fortunate to be involved in the beginning of a project or group effort, you catch little glimpses of what is yet to come. Having spent three days so far with quite a few of the FireEMSBlogs writers, and seeing how they instantly bond with each other, it is clearly evident that what they are doing is not for any selfish gain. They’re not out here with a singular mission to write a book or make a movie, but to share, educate and foster a better fire and EMS service. It is interesting to see their diverse backgrounds come together and blend into common purposes; educate, encourage and mentor. More later. Or at least after I stop coming back to the hotel at two in the morning.
