I consider Captain Schmoe’s to be the best effort in political posturing. Although he eloquently declines the nomination, he does so with literary grace as well as a suitable replacement.

Fire Critic’s agenda included more support of SAFER grants, minimum standards and a mandatory certification process and continued work on the USFA’s strategic plan. Critic acknowledges it will be baby steps, but the payoff in the end will be a more professional fire service.

Chief Reason has apparently been mulling this over long before the call for submissions. That or he thinks he’s actually being considered. His main platform is one of reducing firefighter fatalities by improving firefighter health.
